BASICS COSMETOLOGY CLASS

In The Beginning

As the Basic Classroom teacher I get to enjoy a new class of students every 11 weeks.  With that, it always surprises me how every class says they did not realize how much they had to learn and how hard it was going to be.  It’s just not styling each other’s hair every day.   Then as they finish up their 11th week in the basics class, I have them reflect back to the first few weeks and they realize how much they have learned and how much they can do.   Could you foil a head before??  Could you cut hair correctly before??  Could you wrap a perm in 30 minutes??   I think the most important thing they learn in these first few weeks other than the practical skills is to believe in yourself and to follow your dreams.  It may not be easy and it does take a lot of work but this is just the first step in a great journey they have chosen in this amazing field of Cosmetology.
