I’m often asked if I always knew that I wanted to be a cosmetology instructor? A smile comes to my face as I remember back 10 years ago when I started school here at the Xenon Omaha campus. I was only 18 years old, a small town girl, only one month out of high school. I was extremely quiet and shy and on my own for the first time in my life, I was scared to death!! I remember meeting my new instructors one by one as my first few weeks flew by and thinking to myself how AWESOME they were at not only doing hair, skin and nails but to also be able to teach others their amazing skills. During my 13 months in school here at Xenon they inspired me to become more outgoing, how to do great hairstyles on my clients and to sharpen the basic skills that they were teaching me. What I needed at that point in my life was someone to BELIEVE in me, and the instructors at Xenon Omaha did believe in me. Honestly, I still can’t believe that now I AM AN INSTRUCTOR, working beside some of the great instructors that taught me years ago. I never had the self confidence before coming to school, I never thought I could be more than just average. My hope now is that I too am inspiring students to believe in themselves and to know that with hard work and dedication, they can go anywhere in this industry! I always wonder if someday one of the students that I’m teaching now will become my co-worker and work alongside our amazing group of instructors.
