A cosmetology career can lead to many different job opportunities. Some options include hairstylist, nail technician, salon owner, cosmetology school educator or cosmetic product representative. If you go the route of a hairstylist or nail technician you’ll have the option of working for a salon or becoming your own boss by renting a booth at an already established salon. When renting a booth you will be responsible for providing all your own products and bringing in and building your own clientele. Many cosmetologists also have the opportunity to work in the beauty industry as magazine editors or consultants for beauty magazines. Cosmetologist employment is expected to grow from 2010-2020 by fourteen percent. Upon graduating from cosmetology school make sure to compare wages, job duties and potential job growth before choosing a final career path that will be right for you.
